Janet Ciejka is a writer of the strange and surreal. Her debut short story "Hotel Praha,” inspired by her childhood in Prague not long after the downfall of Communism, was published in the literary journal Epiphany. Her short story "In Moscow, the Bodies" appeared in Doric Literary. Janet has a B.A. in History from New York University, an M.A. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Maine, and an MFA in Creative Writing from The New School with a concentration in Fiction. She studied with gothic author Patrick McGrath, who called her work “outstanding” and her imagination “vivid and versatile.” Janet’s Polish heritage and international background inform her work: she has lived in Kenya, Hong Kong, the Czech Republic, the United Arab Emirates, and Russia. She currently serves as a Volunteer Screener for Ploughshares.
